An International House of Theatre Arts, Stage Arts and Culture
Introduction
The International House of Theatre Arts, Stage Arts and Culture will be located
at the historic Ein-Hod sheep-pen which is currently an abandoned structure,
hosting next to it the new youth club facility that was built with the generous
aid of "Mifaal Hapais"(Israeli Lottery). We would like to create an "eco-friendly"
theatre and stage arts center. The leaders of the project; Lisa Jacobson and Gil Becher
of the ARMA theatre company, created several theatre projects
in 1990-1991 at the intended site, but due to the bad conditions of the structure
and lack of proper infrastructure, they had to move on and work elsewhere.
Eighteen years later, Lisa and Gil 'rediscovered' the place and decided it was time
to renovate it and create an international theatre arts and culture house for
the benefit of the local residents of Ein Hod artists village, the Hof-HaCarmel region
and other northern cities and the wide Israeli public- children, youth and adults.
The international house for theatre arts and culture will comprise of diverse activities:
A permanent home for ARMA Theatre Company
a work and performance space for the independent creation of ARMA theatre,
which has been creating theatre in Israel and abroad since 1990.
A rehearsal & performance space for theatre and performing arts
The alternative and uniquely designed space amid the nature, will host a variety of
original performances of contemporary theatre, circus, dance, music, performance-art etc.
The center will host independent performances and the productions of the Ein Hod stage
artists and diverse fringe centers in Israel.
A theatre educational center for children and youth
in the work frame of after school classes, courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced,
hosting theatre departments from high schools, forming a creative group and summer-camps.
A residency center for performing artists
hosting individual artists or theater companies, working on a theatrical project,
individually or cooperating with the community.
The Theatre School
a professional school and workshop center for theatre, acting and the related arts,
in diverse spaces and in the nature.
A meeting space
for theatre and stage arts conferences and for related exhibitions.
Theatre Festivals
